Meet Dan
I’ve been fascinated by hair for as long as I can remember- particularly color, and the ability to change the way we present ourselves to the world.
That curiosity led me to cosmetology school, where I discovered that I loved understanding hair just as much as i loved creating it. I earned an Associate Degree in Specialized Technology in Cosmetology, graduating with recognition for special and outstanding educational accomplishments and went on to earn my cosmetology teaching license and work in education alongside my time behind the chair.
What has always interested me about hair is the why behind it: the chemistry of color, the geometry of shape, the relationship between light and shadow and how all of those technical elements change the way a finished design is perceived.
After several years behind the chair, I stepped away from hair as my primary career. Coming back gave me an opportunity to approach it differently and to build the kind of practice I wanted to work within.
I created VISUAL GRAMMAR because I wanted the freedom to practice hair design the way I believe it should be practiced: thoughtfully, collaboratively, and without rushing people through an appointment.
I don’t believe my job is to tell you who to be or what you should look like. YOU ARE THE EXPERT ON YOURSELF. My job is to bring the technical knowledge, ask the right questions, listen carefully, and use what I know to help us create something that feels authentically like you.
